ZVISHAVANE – Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions, FC Platinum kept their hopes alive of securing a fifth title on the bounce after dismissing former cup kings, Caps United 2-1 at Mandava Stadium today afternoon.
FC Platinum opened the scoring through an own goal from Godknows Murwira who placed the ball at the back of his own net after a Jarrison Selemani cross.
Caps United levelled the terms 21 minutes later through Blessing Sarupinda however, it was Pure Platinum Play who had the last laugh as they surged ahead through Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya on the hour mark.
The win see Maplatso climbing to sixth on the log with 34 points seven points adrift log leaders Highlanders FC who play tomorrow against Dynamos.
This is the second win of the Zvishavane based team in five games after getting the scalp of Highlanders.
The win has kept them in title contention with 12 games to go as they are chasing a record fifth title.
Coach Norman Mapeza highlighted that it is through hard work the results are coming their way.
