Empowerment champion, Gurajena bags top Megafest business award

MASVINGO-Business Economic Empowerment Federation (BEEF) treasurer general and prominent Bulawayo based businessman, Tapfuma Gurajena has bagged the coveted Megafest Male Entrepreneur of te year for 2022.

The multi award winning businessman received the award recently at a colourful ceremony held at a top hotel in the capital which attended by the who is who in the business community in the country.

In 2021 Gurajena who is the founding director of fast growing Laidback Engineering which specializes in electro, structural, and civil engineering works was the Megafest Diamond Director of the Year of Southern Region.

BEEF is a lobby group created by Zimbabwean business people to promote and develop economic growth and help in formalization of indigenous entities as well as assisting where there are challenges.

“I am honoured to have won this award because it takes a lot to reach this level of recognition and I want to the thank all the members of BEEF who made it possible for me to reach this far and wishing to do more and better in the coming years,” said Gurajena.

Gurajena who is a BEEF founding member was born in Gurajena Village in Masvingo District and attended Matsokoto Primary School, Mavhiringidze Secondary School and went on to attain marketing qualifications at tertiary level, Credit Management and Human Resources and Project Management.

Gurajena told The Midweek Watch that BEEF is all about spearheading initiatives that will help capacitate indigenous private business people, inducing collaboration with other national and international organisations with interest in innovative development.

It also helps in the creation of financial empowerment framework and build capacity to increase access to services and resources, championing and creating opportunities for skills training, learnership and mentorship programmes and also eradication of poverty through the development of marginalised groups, women, youth and people with disabilities.
