Employee fraudulently disposes US$134K mining claims

GWERU-The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is on the hunt Gerald Tamuka Machimula who allegedly fraudulently sold mining claims worth US$134 000 belonging to a Harare based company Geo Associates Pvt Ltd.

 Machimula (40) of Westview, Kadoma was employed a as representative for the company in the Midlands Province.

Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed to The Midweek Watch that Machimula issued counterfeit receipts and certificates to cover up his fraudulent activities.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched a manhunt for a Kadoma man for a spate of fraud cases. The total amount involved is USD134 000,” he said.

Insp Mahoko said the company only discovered the fraudulent activities after the reconciliation of its books.

“Through a routine audit of the company books and records, it was discovered that the suspect had sold several claims to individuals and pocketed all the proceeds,” said Insp Mahoko.

He appealed to members of the public who may have information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to approach the nearest police station.
