MILLICENT HUNGWE
Yesterday marked a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s environmental conservation efforts as the Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, Sithembiso Nyoni officially commissioned the newly constructed Environmental Management Agency (EMA) Muzarabani offices.

The Mid-week Watch confirmed that the offices are located at the Centenary Business Centre in Mashonaland Central Province.
“These offices aim to enhance service delivery and foster a conducive environment for achieving a clean, safe, and healthy environment,” said Nyoni
The commissioning ceremony was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including the Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Christopher Magomo, and the EMA board chairperson, Zenzo Nsimbi.
The EMA director general Aaron Chigona, and Chiefs Chiweshe, Kasekete, and Hwata were also present, along with other senior government officials.
According to Minister Magomo, EMA plays a crucial role in Zimbabwe’s environmental management, with responsibilities which include regulating and monitoring the collection, disposal, treatment, and recycling of waste, as well as controlling the discharge or emission of pollutants into the environment.
The agency’s vision is to achieve a clean, safe, and healthy environment for an empowered society and a growing economy by 2030.
With the establishment of the new EMA offices in Muzarabani, the agency is poised to strengthen its presence in the region and better serve the local community.
This development is expected to have a positive impact on environmental conservation efforts in Zimbabwe, aligning with the country’s goals of promoting sustainable development and protecting the environment, The Midweek Watch has learnt.
