Batsiranayi Ngugama
A bigger cake on the table
We flood the stadium
Sìnging and rejoicing
We don’t go to the temple!
But applaud resilience
That brought about Independence!
This is the day
Similar to the Sabbath day!
That God reiterate us to remember!
On this day, we mirror attrocities
Men and women’s sacrifices
The flee;
And parents traumatised
Not on a silver platter!
Our cattle suffered!
Our sisters died
Our land was bombed
It was a step backwards
We paid dearly!
We celebrate it uniquely
No hard feelings
No abusive language
It’s time we redefine our paths
Time we reflect on our indifference
Unite to share the bigger cake
Though different mothers, but One father!
Oh! Our dear world!
Help us to celebrate this day
Don’t throw spears on us
Mould our vision
Grow our shared culture
Understand our aspirations
Allow us those provisions
Let our pillars remain solid!
To the fallen Comrades!
The cause was noble!
To the living Comrades!
The vision has never changed
That which drove you
Remains our rare asset
We can’t thank you dearly!
It is that prayer
Our undying love and aspiration
That, this day remains inspirational
Consolidate our gains
Chat our unparalleled truth
Of remaining true Zimbabweans and just!
With no hard feelings
But upholding sustainable development Goals!
On this eighteenth day
Dear God!
Sharpen our oneness
Instill love, peace and harmony
Sixteen languages, but One
Ten provinces, but One
Zimbabwe is always One!
Fallen and alive, we are indeed One!
