MASVINGO CITY- Local farmers’ favourite leading poultry inputs distributor, Eben Hardware continued with their initiative to empower poultry farmers with yet another training workshop which was held on the 28th of October 2023 at Lee’s Inn in Masvingo City.

The workshop was hosted by Eben Hardware in partnership with the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization, Fivet Animal Health Company and AFC Commercial Bank.

The main objective of the workshop was to teach farmers how to produce quality poultry products profitably and empower women, youths and farmers in general with entrepreneurial ideas for the poultry business.

“We are here today for the 2nd edition of our poultry training of farmers from all over the province. This time around we have participants from as far as Zvishavane, Chivhu and even Chimanimani. 70 participants are in attendance today a clear indication that the workshop was by public demand after the success of the first edition,” said Eben Hardware drector and WEDO Masvingo Province Ambassador, Benonia Machavuda.

“We are training these farmers in partnership with Fivet and AFC Commercial Bank who are supporting us with financial inclusion. We want our framers to grow from small scale to commercial farmers as some of them have already done and the ones who are here today are promising to do better,” added Machavuda.

Farmers who attended the workshop pleaded with the organizers to visit them in their areas and train more farmers out there. The projects include growing breeds of Hamara broilers, Hamara Sasso and Hamara Sussex as they are the sole approved argent and distributor of Hamara feeds and products.

Many farmers who have ventured into poultry production gave inspiring testimonials after working with Eben Hardware in their poultry production.

“I started poultry production with a batch of hundred chicks and it was successful, I thought I had managed well. Then I had another batch and this time many chicks died, but after the first training, I’ve never had problems so I believe these workshops help a lot,” said one attendee and poultry farmer, Chichisai Dhobha.

“I started working with Eben Hardware five years ago and since then I have never had challenges with my chicken at any point and these workshops have helped us a lot,” said another farmer Benita Chapera from Mashate.

The workshop ended with farmers receiving certificates from Eben Hardware and Alice Jeke AFC Bank’s provincial area manager for Masvingo and the Midlands.
