MASVINGO-Duma Sporting Academy from Nyika, Bikita delivered an impressive performance on Youth Day, thrashing Shine Shine Queens 3-0 at Mucheke B Grounds.

The academy’s girls team put on a dominant display with Melody Matingwadza opening the scoring from a well-taken free kick. Tianner Pragia doubled the lead before Mercy Mutimba sealed the victory with the third goal. Melody Matingwadza was named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance.
Established in 2003, Duma Sporting Academy continues to grow with strong support from the local community and parents.
In boys’ senior category, Duma Sporting Academy defeated Don Bosco 3-1. After Don Bosco had taken the lead, Condrad Munatsi equalised in the 57th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box assisted by Briton Mabiku.
Persistance Ganjiri (Dziba) put Duma ahead in the 62nd minute with an assist from Munyaradzi Bvekwa. Innocent Chikanga sealed the victory in the 80th minute.
Innocent Chikanga was named Player of the Match.
Speaking after the games , Duma Sporting Academy head coach, Persistance Ganjiri (Dziba), expressed satisfaction with the results, saying they reflect the team’s steady improvement.
He highlighted that the academy’s objective is to keep young people away from drugs and prevent early child marriages by keeping them actively involved in sport.
“We want to thank the parents who continue supporting us as we travel as far as Harare and Mutare for games,” said Ganjiri.
He added that the academy is appealing for sponsorship from well-wishers to ensure players remain actively engaged in sport.
Meanwhile, in basketball, Week 17 of the Masvingo Basketball Association delivered thrilling encounters with teams battling for supremacy as the season progresses.
