HARARE-As the elections fever grips the nation, the opposition Democratic Party (DP) has endorsed the Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) presidential candidate, Nelson Chamisa.
In a statement released this morning DP president, Wurayayi Zembe said the party’s national executive council unanimously resolved to rally behind all CCC candidates in the forthcoming harmonized elections.
“On 27 May 2023 the national executive council of the Democratic Party (DP) met to consider the party’s electoral position for the August 2023 harmonized general elections which will be held in Zimbabwe. The following resolution were passed unanimously.
“DP resolved to endorse the presidential candidature of Advocate Nelson Chamisa in the August 2023 elections,” he said.
He added that the party also resolved to endorse all parliamentary and local government CCC candidates.
Zembe said the resolutions were made in pursuant to fulfilment of the 2023 citizens electoral struggle for the appointment of a legitimate citizens government in Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson George Charamba last night hinted that the President will proclaim the election date any time soon.
