Dear Editor

Date:

Is education still a basic right in Zimbabwe?

Education is a basic right under the Zimbabwean constitution. As citizens we don’t accept a basic right provided under such conditions. Currently the government is buying big cars for Zanu PF cheerleaders. The government has not paid more than US$93million for Basic Education Assistance Model (BEAM).

This means parents who are paying fees are now responsible for educating those children the government is refusing to pay for through BEAM. How much time and amount of money is involved in campaigning to amend the constitution to benefit an individual. The Presidential Term limits must be honoured.
