Gweru- TelOne gaffer, Rutherford Matondo is optimistic his team will bang in more goals in the coming games despite suffering a disappointing draw against Chapungu FC on Saturday last week in the Ruvimbo Funeral ZIFA Central Region Soccer League (CRSL) at Ascot Stadium.
The WifFi boys as they are affectionately known by their legions of fans drew 1 all with ‘Waru Waru’ after attacking midfielder, Blessing Sahondo got a freekick in the 38th minute.
The equalizer came 8mins later after Chapungu’s captain Cuthbert Gwaze made some deft touches in the first 30 minutes of the game.
Matondo said the second half was tough considering how Chapungu passed the ball in the middle of the park.
“This game was not an easy one, we are happy though that in the second half we tried to master their game as we had read how they were playing.
“So, as a local derby, players know each other’s strength and weaknesses, hence tactically it was a difficult game for us.
“Yes, in terms of possession they were ahead, we were second on the ball, but our focus is on the coming games, we need to get more goals.
“We secured a crucial point considering that we were away but next game we look forward to a win. We are taking all our games seriously” Matondo said.
Chapungu Head Coach, Clemence Zuze said securing a point in their clash was a fair result.
“This is our second consecutive draw and the league is a marathon and we will try to take each game as they come,” Zuze said.
