Counting of votes begin in Masvingo

Date:

Counting of ballots has just begun in Chivi North and Masvingo Urban as most polling stations closed at 7pm as per the law.

Election officers who spoke to The Midweek Watch confirmed that they have started counting and all those who were eligible to vote and were in the queue by 7pm managed to cast their votes.

The turn out in Chivi North was very impressive and by 11am at Madamombe Primary more than 300 had cast their votes and most of them were women.

At Masvingo City Showground polling station just over 400 voters turned up out of the 800 registered to vote there and vote counting has already started.

At the Showground more men voted than women.

Meanwhile, in Shurugwi South Constituency 5 043 had cast their votes by 2pm and by 11am 150 had voted at Chachacha Business Centre.

In Chivhu at Lebernberg High School the queue was long and moving very slowly and youths are accusing ZEC of employing frustrating tactics after the elderly and mostly women had cast their votes.
