MASVINGO-Masvingo City Council has extended a helping hand to the history making, Shine Shine Queens FC (SS QUEENS) by availing Municipality owned Mucheke Stadium to the team for their home games for free and paying their 2023 affiliation fee.

During a Council meeting held on February 23, 2023 it was resolved that Masvingo City Council (MCC) would pay US$400 for SS Queens to ZIFA as affiliation fee for their participation in the Zimbabwe Women Super League for the 2023 season.

It was also resolved in the same meeting that the MCC will avail Mucheke Stadium to SS Queens free of charge for the duration of the 2023 season for all their home matches in the women’s elite league according to minute number 064 (A).

“That Council pays US$400 or equivalent being affiliation fees for Shine Shine Queens FC for the 2023 Zimbabwe Women Super League Season.

“That Council waives the payment of lease rentals for Mucheke Stadium during the team’s home matches for the 2023 Zimbabwe Women Super League Season,” reads the letter from the Acting Director of Housing and Social Services, Simbarashe Mandishona.

SS Queens FC founding member and coach, Takaendesa Mavesere appreciated the gesture from the City Fathers and said at least they have somewhere to start from.

“We would like to thank the City Council for what they have done for the girl child as this will go a long way in helping our cause.

“They have led by example as our City Fathers so that their girl child has something to do that takes them away from the social ills of life where there is rampant drug and substance abuse by the youths,” said Mavesere.
