CHIVI-ZRP Masvingo commander Commissioner Frederick Mbengwa on Wednesday headlined a crime prevention campaign in Chivi District held at Takavarasha Business Centre in ward 13.

This program aims to mitigate criminal activities in the locality through community engagement.
Commissioner Mbengwa, emphasized the critical role of community involvement in surveillance and crime reporting. He urged residents to establish organized neighbourhood watch schemes and to report any suspicious activities promptly.
“We require the community to function as vigilant observers and informants to enhance our collective safety,” said Commissioner Mbengwa.
Additionally, the Provincial Anti-Stock Theft Unit emphasized the necessity of reporting stray animals and lost livestock to both veterinary and law enforcement agencies to mitigate the risk of wrongful accusations regarding stock theft.

Ward 13 Councillor Dennis Marufu expressed appreciation for the police initiative, recognizing it as a proactive measure towards enhancing community safety.
Chief Chivi born Adline Mausa (pictured below in green dress), also endorsed the campaign, committing to collaborate with the law enforcement agency to set up neighbourhood watch programs across all local villages.

“It is vital for parents to instill in their children the significance of reporting crimes,” she said.
She also highlighted the need for grassroots education on crime prevention.
