Gweru-Another President Mnangagwa affiliate, Civil Servants Trust ED Midlands has been launched in the Midlands capital of Gweru as the campaign for the harmonized elections scheduled for mid year intensifies.
The group was launched last week in the Midlands Capital by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Midlands Province, Larry Mavima.
The establishment of this movement is expected to boost mutuality between Government and the members of Civil Servants TrustED.
Speaking during the launch on behalf of the Minister, Zanu PF provincial senior official, Engineer Daniel Mackenzie Ncube, said it was important to strengthen the relationship that has always existed between the ruling party and the civil service in all aspects of socio-economic development.
He added that Government and the party have always afforded the civil service sufficient space to contribute and benefit from the growth of the economy
“However, the relationship has had its highs and lows with some civil servants exhibiting antagonistic behaviour against the Government. It is against this background that this launch is a milestone achievement in the civil service sector, the Midlands Province and Zimbabwe at large.
“In view of the special relationship between the Zanu PF led government and the civil service, the party wants to express its appreciation to the founders of the Civil Servants TrustED platform for not only coming up with this movement but also organising this conference.
“Zimbabwe has high expectations for the future in all areas of socio-economic development due to the value it in stores in its civil servants.” he added
Mackenzie added that Government’s Vision 2030, spearheaded by President Mnangagwa is the answer to these expectations and ambitions.
“Important to note is that the Government is making frantic efforts- monetary and non-monetary -to support its employees towards the realisation of the said Vision and welcomes the pledge by its employees to holistically contribute towards the growth and development of Zimbabwe.
“The creation of the Civil Servants TrustED movement is coming in the backdrop of the establishment of various related affiliates primarily for the purpose of supporting the candidature of President Mnangagwa in particular and Zanu PF at large in the forthcoming harmonised elections,” Mckenzie added.
Civil Servants TrustED national chairperson, Loraine Mutenhure, said the Midlands Province membership stood at 2 800. Having been launched in May last year the movement seeks also to mobilise all civil servants both serving and retired to support and be part of development programmes and initiatives being spearheaded by the Government.
