Masvingo City Council Engineering Department has initiated measures to address concerns raised by motorists along the busy Industrial Road which has become an accident time bomb.

Motorist had expressed frustration over the buses parking and maneuvering on the road, causing congestion and safety issues.
In response, the City Engineer Kudzaishe Mbetu said that they are waiting for the contracted company to construct a designated bus rank, which will alleviate the current problems.
“We urge all motorists to bear with us as we work towards completing the construction of the bus terminus, We plan to install a boom gate at the corner to improve traffic flow and safety of commuters,” said Mbetu.
The Engineer also highlighted the issue of trucks parking and reversing along the highway near the Pepsi warehouse area, which poses a risk to other road users.
“Municipal officers will soon start enforcing bylaws, requiring trucks to park in designated areas and not along the highway,” he said.
The City Mayor Alec Tabe reiterated what the Mbetu said and added that they working tirelessly to address the concerns raised by stakeholders.
“I am fully behind these initiatives to improve traffic management and safety on our roads, we are committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure that our roads are safe and efficient for all users,” said Tabe.
The City Engineer urged motorists to cooperate with the city authorities as they work towards implementing these improvements. With the construction of the bus rank and enforcement of bylaws, the council aims to reduce congestion and improve road safety in the industrial area.
