A Chivi Growth Point man got the shock of his life when he found his valuable motorbike missing after parking it his house and heading to his rural homestead.
On July 12, around 10:00am in the New Stands area along Njowo Street, Chivi Growth, Johanis Tatira (64), left his motorcycle parked and locked on the veranda with his sister at the house before heading to his rural homestead in Chakawa Village, under Chief Masunda.
Masvingo Province Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa told The Midweek Watch that the incident occurred while Tatira was at his rural homestead.
Upon waking up the following morning, July 13, his sister discovered that the motorbike was missing, a padlock used to secure it had been broken, indicating it had been stolen during the night.
The stolen motorcycle, valued at US$900, is believed to have been quietly pushed away from the verandah at night.
Inspector Dhewa advised the public to keep valuable items like motorcycles in secured, enclosed spaces to avoid such thefts.
Investigations are ongoing as police try to track down the unidentified suspect.
