CHIVHU-Controversial Chivhu businessman, Kestry Muzana was acquitted by Chivhu Provincial Magistrate Sheron Nxongo on Wednesday last week.
Muzana was facing two counts of obstructing ZESA Inspectors and police officers who were exercising their duties at his premises. The officials were inspecting illegal connection of electricity at his Muzana Complex at Chivhu Location Shops.
He was accused of having injured a police officer during the scuffle when he was, together with his accomplice, resisting arrest.
In his defense, Muzana said the inspectors failed to produce identification showing that they really were ZESA inspectors since there was high risk of them being imposters.
He cited a brawl with police officers as evidence that there was no agreement between the business owner and the inspectors in carrying out their duties.
Circumstances are that sometime in May, Muzana was arrested for allegedly illegally connecting ZESA at his Muzana Complex premises.
He will be back in court on the 18th of June for charges of illegally connecting electricity at his premises.
Taonga Masaire stood for state.
