ChikombaPopular Chivhu businessman, Kestry Muzana has joined the race to represent Zanu PF in Chikomba ward 11 in the primaries that have been postponed to a date yet to be announced.

There are five other candidates who are vying to represent the ruling party in the same ward.

Muzana who runs Muzana Hotels and Mhofu Lodges in the transit town recently donated two tons of rice in the ward and ten bags of cement to Northwood Primary School which is still under construction allegedly in a bid to drum up support for his election which also pits incumbent, Pedzisayi Muhenyeri.

In an interview with the Midweek Watch, Muzana said he sees himself as the right candidate to lead the ward as he has the residents at heart and service delivery is his priority area.

Muzana denied that the donations were meant to drum up support, but out of good will.

“I want to lead this ward to ensure that there is good service delivery and participatory leadership by working together with residents’ input being of paramount importance.

“People should vote for me because of my brilliant ideas not  because I give them trinkets, long term solutions is what we want,” said Muzana.

Meanwhile, the incumbent, Muhenyeri said he was not afraid of competition and knows people will vote for him for what he has done in a short period of time after being elected in March last year during the bye-elections.

“I am not afraid of competition and the people will determine who they want to represent them.  I cannot be judged by the 9 months I have been a ward councilor, I still have a lot to prove,” said Muhenyeri

Former District Schools Inspector and Daramombe High School headmaster Ngoni Mujuru is also another big name vying for the post.

Other candidates who are also vying to represent the revolutionary party in ward 11 are Tsungai Dhondo, Solomon Taruvinga and Susan Chuma.
