RE: Resignation from club
I have a name to protect. I believe in transparency of doing things. I have spent many years fighting for good governance. A good name is better than riches.
I have tried to influence the best practices of governance in the club but I think the culture of the club is a hindrance to my efforts. The social media culture of announcing firing of coaches and making decisions is not within my best practices.
The FC Wangu Mazodze Executive is only a paper decoration, a true window dress. The one man Board runs the club making his unilateral resolutions and decisions. The owner of the club does not consult nor consider the Executive Committee an organ of the club. The Club Executive is as good as not there.
The club owner fires coaches on social media before even consulting the Executive Committee. It is a shock that the Executive Committee, just like every ordinary citizen reads the firing of coach on Facebook. What type of governance is that? I can’t be associated with such type of governance. I believe in collective decision, debate and resolutions.
I have accommodated and singlehandedly catered for the welfare of six players for a month who were waiting for registration. To my surprise the players are not registered up today. These were players selected by the coach.
I hereby surrender the players into the hands of the club. Immediately they must move out of my house and the team see to it that they cater for them.I am no longer part of this confusion, dictatorship and unprofessional charade.
I was responsible for negotiation for Chikato Government School playgrounds for training. This has soiled my name as the club has failed to pay the monthly payments on time, for the service. My reputation and dignity is at stake .The continuation of me as FC Wangu Mazodze Executive Member is affecting my relations with the community. I will have to write to Chikato disassociating myself to the club and their continued engagement is out of my circle.
The team’s performance since the appointment of Philani Beefy Ncube can be attributed to the owner of the club and total sabotage.
1) Since the appointment of Ncube the owner changed the sponsoring package.
2) The player’s welfare, accommodation, food etc were reduced.
3) Breakfast was termed a privilege since coach Ncube was appointed. The players were denied breakfast.
4) At times the players would go for more than 48 hours without a single meal but expected to train and perform.
5) The club house water was closed for none playmate of bills. The players had to spend more than a week without bathing and using bush toilets.
6) Before Ncube appointment players were given winning bonus in dressing room .The coming in of Ncube the players had to waiting for month-end to get winning bonuses.
7) The Executive Committee doesn’t control the budget. A few self appointed individuals control gate takings. The Treasure is only responsible for handling Executive Members donation.
8) The coach had no Assistant Coaches, Goalkeepers Coach.
9) The team had to use a small uncomfortable combi to Murambinda and public transport to Mutare which never happened before the appointment of Philani Beefy Ncube.
Any change from normal must be improvement not downwards. A move to the negative is demotivating the team. I believe this was well calculated in order to dislodge the coach.
The Board is always right motto has killed FC Wangu Mazodze. The question that Dr Richard Wangu Mazodze owns the club is undisputed. In this regards he has every right to run it the way he likes. I have seen it right that I have tried on many occasions tried to advise him not to make social media governance. I am worried at this culture of firing coaches on Facebook. I can’t be part of that behavior.
I part in peace. The better I stay home and enjoy my Arsenal than be part of this kindergarten soccer administration. As long as FC Wangu Mazodze is run on social media, unilateral decisions and unprofessionally it will never dream of Premier league. Masvingo community must never bank their Premier league promotion on FC Wangu Mazodze even if they hire the best coach on earth.
With all this , I have seen it as best to resign.I thank all the Executive members for the great working relationship you had tried to build in the club.Thank you coach Philani Beefy Ncube and George Magariro you tried your best under these circumstances.
