Chipwanya in court for US$25 000 fraud

Date:

MASVINGO CITY -The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a Masvingo man, Ranganai Chipwanya, on charges of fraud as defined in Section 136 of the Criminal Law [Codification and Reform] Act, Chapter 9:23.

Allegations against Chipwanya are that he connived with his mother in law, Evelyn Masiyambiri who is already on bail over the same matter, to deprive the complainant, Elisha Muzilikazi of his late father’s house valued at US$25 000, which was occupied by the former.

It is alleged that on October 12, 2015, Chipwanya wrote a letter to the Master of the High Court of Zimbabwe on Masiyambiri’s behalf, falsely claiming that she had purchased the house from the complainant’s father knowing fully that this was not true.

Chipwanya has since appeared at Masvingo Magistrates Court and was remanded out of custody to October 17, 2024 on US$200.00 bail.
