CHINHOYI-ZIFA Northern Region One outfit Chinhoyi Rangers FC has successfully completed transition to a new owner and management resulting in a corresponding name change to just Rangers FC.

The successful transfer was announced through a press release by the new paymaster.
“Rangers Football Club officially announces its unveiling following the successful acquisition and restructuring of the former Chinhoyi Rangers Football Club.
On 21 November 2025, the executive of Chinhoyi Rangers FC formally surrendered the club for takeover. While the surrender letter was duly noted, the acquiring authority responsibly awaited formal ratification by the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the interest of transparency, good governance, and football integrity.
“We confirm that on January 11, 2026, the Chinhoyi Rangers FC AGM successfully ratified and endorsed the acquisition, granting full control and authority over the running and management of the club to the new controlling entity. Following
this endorsement, all statutory and regulatory requirements with the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) were duly complied with, including registration, affiliation, and requisite payments. The club has therefore been officially registered as a new entity under the name,” wrote Rangers FC public relations officer, Loston Storo in a press release.
Rangers CEO Tatenda Chitate cements the decision as a progressive one for football in Mashonaland West provincial capital and beyond.
“The decision to acquire and rebrand Chinhoyi Rangers FC into Rangers Football Club is a strategic one, driven by the need to stabilize, professionalize and reposition the club for long-term competitiveness. With the new management structure now in place, our focus is on good governance, financial sustainability, and building a strong football culture anchored in transparency and accountability.
“This transition is not about personalities, but about systems. We’re putting in place robust administrative frameworks, investing in technical development, and strengthening community engagement so that the club becomes a sustainable institution that Chinhoyi and the wider football fraternity can be proud of.
“We fully appreciate the responsibility that comes with leading a community asset like Rangers FC. Our commitment is to restore confidence among stakeholders, attract strategic partnerships, and create an environment where players, technical staff and supporters can thrive. The journey has begun, our vision is clear coupled with a firm resolve,” Chitate told MidWeek Watch in an exclusive communique.
Meanwhile, another ZIFA NRSL club N’ombeyaora, has been taken over by a new owner resulting in it identifying as G & T Mine FC. This was communicated through a press release from the league public relations officer, Yemurai Dyakonda.
“The league acknowledges change of ownership of N’ombeyaora FC and the subsequent change of name to G & T Mine FC.”
The league says it welcomes these new ownership structures and name changes while looking forward to their contribution towards the growth and development of the region. After the league received notification of the changes, it confirms that both processes were in compliance with set rules, respective statements on the takeovers attest.
