The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Sheillah Chikomo who is also MP for Mwenezi East was the guest of honor at the Zimbabwe Women in Business Forum and Awards presentation ceremony.

The prestigious awards ceremony were held on June 28 at the Hyatt Regency in Harare.
The event celebrated and rewarded Zimbabwe’s outstanding women in business. Chikomo congratulated the organizers for acknowledging the vital role women play in the country’s socio-economic transformation. “In a country where entrepreneurship is key, it’s heartening to see women breaking barriers and redefining the business landscape,” Chikomo noted.
“I commend the organizers of this event for creating this platform which celebrates these phenomenal women.”
Chikomo highlighted that the ceremony was a testament to the government’s drive towards women empowerment as the nation makes strides towards the realisation of Vision 2030.
“This ceremony is a testimony to government’s commitment to inclusivity, as space continues to be opened up for women to defy the odds and re-write history as they become successful players in business, a sector previously dominated by men.” echoed Chikomo.
The Zimbabwe Women in Business Forum and awards presentation ceremony which was highly attended, came at a time when the country is pursuing transformative economic and foreign policy objectives, guided by core principles, Promoting Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development, Zimbabwe is open for business and the Liberation of the Mind (Chimurenga chepfungwa/Umvukela wengqondo).
Chikomo challenged women to also venture into politics, an area which statistics show low participation of women as leaders. “It is high time we raise the bar as women and make our presence felt in all spheres, politics included,” she said.
The event was organized by Kudzai Mukuku and Shama Mandireva Nyamadzavo who are the co-founders of Zimbabwe Women in Business Forum and Awards.
Kudzai Mukuku hailed Government and private sector’s support that made the event a resounding success.
“On behalf of the organisers, l extend our warmest gratitude to the Government, our esteemed Deputy Minister Chikomo and the private sector who partnered with us in making this event a success,” said Mukuku.
