MASVINGO-Chief Murinye born Ephias Munodawafa (pictured) has expelled three village heads in his area of jurisdiction for allegedly being too close to veteran educationist and businessman Philimon Mutangiri.
The three suspended village heads are Headman Makuwe, Machingura and Mukamwe.
“We have been suspended to save as village heads by Chief Murinye for being aligned to Mr Mutangiri. We paid huge sums of money and cattle for us to be installed but we were only told that we are no longer village heads only because of our alignment to the businessman,” said one of the village heads who requested for anonymity for fear of reprisals.
Chief Murinye confirmed the suspension in a telephone interview with The Midweek Watch.
“Yes that is the development but it’s an internal issue which is not meant for the media,” he said.
There is bad blood between Chief Murinye and Mutangiri following an incident that happened at new Riverton Extension Murinye School where the former temporarily blocked the road to the school.
The blockade has led court cases after court cases including Chief Murinye summoning Mutangiri to his traditional court with no success.
