Chief Murinye drags granny to court

MASVINGO – A 71-year-old woman, Margret Chako, appeared before Magistrate Arafat Kozanai in the Masvingo Magistrate Court, charged with malicious damage to property.

Chako, a resident of Village 33 Oatlands, Chief Murinye, Masvingo, is accused of removing a fence erected by Simbarashe Gwembe on a piece of land claimed by Chief Murinye born Ephias Munodawafa as Zunde Ramambo.

The incident occurred on October 6, 2024, when Chako allegedly removed the fence, claiming the land belonged to her late son. The value of the damaged fence is estimated at US$2 400.

The case was postponed to 10 March 2026.
