MIDWEEK REPORTER
MASVINGO-Zimbabwe Council of Chiefs and Pan African Parliament president, Chief Fortune Charumbira has been reported for threatening his niece whom he allegedly fondled without her consent.
The Midweek Watch has been reliably informed that the niece together with her husband this evening reported Chief Charumbira to Masvingo Police for sending threatening text messages to her.
When contacted for confirmation Masvingo Province Police Community Relations and Liaison officer, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said he was yet to get the report and promised to get back as soon as he lays his hands on it.
“I know you are working on documentation to go to Canada and run away from Zimbabwe after messing up my name with lies.
“Do not run away. Ndakatosviba kare. Let’s meet in court. As a result this attack on me there is a lot of information between you, sekuru…(name withheld) and …(name withheld) which I know.
“Ndavurawa image pasi rose ne nhema kuti I touched private parts etc. Kidnapped etc. whooooom. Mwari ndewedu tose.
“Vana …(name withheld) and other CCC members held several meetings with you to push this agenda. I did not think you would agree to falsehoods against me to please them,” reads part of the messages sent to the niece in our possession.

The messages follow a Police report made by the niece for indecent assault by Chief Charumbira which happened on their way to Mazowe from Harare for a schools debate competition at Amai Grace Mugabe School on April 2, 2023
The niece alleged that Chief Charumbira caressed her breasts and kissed her without her consent before they left Munhumutapa Hotel on April 2 2023.
The matter will be investigated by Harare police according to a memo from the ZRP.
