MILLICENT HUNGWE
In a case that borders on gross negligence a Chicken Inn ex-employee, Daniel Shumba allegedly used his old password to gain access to a safe and stole US$7 800.

Sources told The Midweek Watch that Shumba who used to work at the Simbisa Brands listed Chicken Inn along Robert Mugabe Way in Masvingo City hid in the toilet some minutes before close of business at the premises.
After everyone had left the building except the Blackshark night watchman, Shumba gained entry to the room where the safe is kept through the ceiling.
Shumba allegedly disconnected the closed circuit television and used his old password to open the safe and took US$7 800.
Sources also told this publication that Shumba was fired from Chicken Inn recently after some money went missing at the same premises and there are strong suspicions that this could be an inside job.
Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, ZRP Masvingo Province Spokesperson, confirmed the robbery and said Fadzai Magunde (38) reported the matter to the police.
The incident occurred between 12 am and 7 am on May 2.
The robbery has raised concerns about security measures in place at the Chicken Inn premises as the accused entered the office and took the money from the safe.
Blackshark Security acting general manager Tendai Pawadyira refused to comment on the matter and referred this reported to Chicken Inn management.
This publication has also gathered that after Shumba effected the robbery he drove to Mutare where he was involved in an accident and broke both legs and is hospitalized at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital under guard.
However, it is not clear how he was arrested and The Midweek Watch is gathering more information on the matter.
