GOKWE-One of the academic powerhouses in the country, Cheziya High School in Gokwe South Constituency has once again posted outstanding results in the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) 2025 Ordinary Level exams.

The school notched a sterling 98.29 percent overall pass rate, becoming one of the best in the country.
At the apex of adding to the school’s blossoming academic records is Redeemed Makaya (Male) who reaped 13 straight As , followed by Nyasha Paidamoyo Maduyu who scored 11As and a B.
Victoria Vannesa Bashoma, Munashe Mudaiwa,Allan Muteveri and Tom Takunda collected 11As and Bs respectively.
School Head, Tongesai Munyere told The Midweek Watch that the school continues to attain colorful results attributing the success story to staff commitment team work, hardworking, qualified personnel, parents cooperation and discipline from the students.
He however, said non-payment of school fees and the issue of child-headed families were the major challenges affecting the school resulting in increased absenteeism.
“We have recorded a sterling 98.29 percent pass rate in our Ordinary Level results. We are very impressed with this commendable achievement in all our learning areas. We attribute this success story to supportive parents, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, responsible authority, team work, discipline, hardworking and commitment.
“Cheziya High School boasts of qualified personnel both teaching and non teaching staff who worked together to produce these results. However notable challenges we are facing at the school include non-payment of fees and child-headed families which lead to absenteeism,” he said.
A deeper analysis dating back from 2020 indicates that the school continues to attain impressive results.
In 2020, the school attained a sterling 88.65 percent after 206 candidates sat for the November Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (Zimsec) Ordinary Level exams.
In 2021, the school produced 82.61 percent after 207 students sat for the examinations.
The school in 2022 recorded an impressive 83.42 percent after 192 candidates sat for the examinations.
In 2023, the school recorded 81,6 percent from 212 candidates while a shinning 96.18 percent was recorded in the year 2024.
Last year, 175 candidates sat for the examinations and a 98.29 percentage pass rate was recorded.

Notable individuals who attended Cheziya Gokwe High School include Kudzai Gumbo, a former ZBC journalist who became the Director of Strategic Communications for the Government of Zimbabwe.
Other alumni include musician Whisky and Paralympic chess player Murove Presence an international Paralympic chess player who represented Zimbabwe at the 2nd Olympiad for People with Disabilities.
