GWERU-The Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) candidate for Mkoba South, Albert Chadoka has vowed to bring change and introduce fresh ideas in the newly established constituency if he wins the 23 August elections.
He told The Midweek Watch that Mkoba needs effective representative in parliament who will fight for national policies that are investor friendly, as well as having an inclusive leadership approach.
“Mkoba needs minds with fresh ideas. Leadership with inclusivity approach once elected into office. The leadership that brings in new impetus for revitalization of Mkoba and a non-violent accountable representative,” he said.
Chadoka who is also the MDC-T national executive member said he will fight for youth and women empowerment, including the eradication of drug and substance abuse.
He said once elected into office; Mkoba South constituency will partner with council to upgrade Mkoba Stadium into a world class stadium as well as provide decent trading spaces for informal traders in the constituency.
Adding that he will lobby for change of policy to return the function of collecting vehicle license fees to the local authorities saying, “the transfer of the vehicle licensing portfolio to Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) affected the council’s ability to maintain roads infrastructure”.
Chadoka who is also a City of Gweru employee joined the MDC in 2000 and rose through the ranks from the youth assembly to his current position of being a national executive member of the party.
In 2022, he contested the Mkoba by-elections and lost to Amos Chibaya before the constituency was divided into two during the delimitation process.
