MASVINGO CITY-Advocate Martin Mureri, the Member of Parliament for Masvingo Urban, convened a feedback meeting at Mucheke Hall, to facilitate vital discourse between representatives and the electorate on developmental initiatives.

This gathering attracted an audience of pastors, business leaders, vendors, and various representatives from residents’ associations.
A key focus of the session was on initiatives funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). Mureri highlighted several projects, including the installation of a solar power system at Dikwindi Primary School in Ward 1, and the procurement of new school furniture for the expansion at Chikato Primary School.

In Ward 4, he reported the provision of new beds for an elderly care facility, while Ward 5 received new furniture for a block at Ndarama High School. He also announced forthcoming furniture delivery to Vurombo Primary School in Ward 6 and outlined upcoming projects for Wards 3, 7, and 9.
The MP addressed the challenges associated with the CDF, notably its typical allocation of $50,000, often dispensed in Zimbabwean dollars.
“Many suppliers demand payments in United States dollars, complicating our procurement processes. We urge the Ministry of Finance to consider disbursing CDF funds in USD to enhance our purchasing power,” said MP Mureri.
City of Masvingo Mayor Alec Tabe, present at the meeting, underscored the collaborative dynamics between the councillors and MP Mureri.
“We, as councillors, collaborate closely with the MP for the development of our city,” said Tabe.
He referenced notable achievements, such as the establishment of Rujeko Secondary School and the construction of the Runyararo West Clinic, as substantial contributions to the community.
Deputy Mayor and Ward 5 Councillor Alderman Daniel Mberikunashe also paid tribute to the MP for his developmental initiatives which are done through inclusive consultations.
The meeting was also attended by several dignitaries, including Masvingo Senator Maggie Chakabuda, Tendeukai Matara (Masvingo PR), Ropafadzo Makumire from Chiredzi Central, John Kuka (Mkoba South), and a host of other elected officials and councillors across the Masvingo province, including the former Deputy Mayor of Masvingo Urban, Jameson Chiwara.
Mureri has instituted a comprehensive development committee that integrates a wide array of stakeholders, including students, academics, community leaders, senior citizens, musicians, and individuals with disabilities. This inclusivity ensures a holistic approach to community engagement, prioritizing the diverse needs of the populace.
During his address, Mureri expressed appreciation for the electorate’s support during the 2023 harmonised elections.
“Thank you for attending this feedback meeting, your presence is immensely appreciated. I am privileged to represent you and will do my utmost to serve you,” said Mureri.
