The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) is carrying out various awareness activities in line with the global World Food Day theme for 2025, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.

The consumer celebrations are centred on the promotion of food security, safety and nutrition. CCZ is promoting the consumption of indigenous foods.
This initiative aligns perfectly with FAO’s 80th anniversary and emphasizes that building sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems requires collective action and the active participation of consumers.
The CCZ will host an event in Dzivarasekwa, bringing together consumer action clubs, government stakeholders, and food system experts to deliberate on sustainable consumption and production.
CCZ will present its work on food safety, nutrition, and sustainability, referencing campaigns like “Antibiotics off the menu” and collaborations with bodies.
1. There will be extensive discussions between stakeholders and the Consumer Action Clubs, allowing grassroots voices to inform high-level policy.
2. Exhibition and experience sharing
• “Traditional Delicacies Festival”: Consumer Action Clubs will showcase and share traditional foods, including products from their own livestock initiatives, celebrating Zimbabwe’s rich food heritage.
3. Advocacy and awareness campaign
• Social media engagement: Use the hashtag #CCZWorldFoodDay2025 to promote the event, share insights from the presentations, and amplify the voices of the Consumer Action Clubs.
