CCC in door to door voter mobilisation

CHIREDZI-With just 18 days left to go to the crunch harmonised polls, the country’s biggest opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has embarked on a door to door campaign Zaka and Chiredzi countering its main nemesis Zanu PF which is using its cells.

In Chiredzi District, CCC parliamentary candidate for Chiredzi Central Ropafadzo Makumire and his team have confirmed to The Midweek Watch that they have started door to door campaign to boost their chances in the polls.

“We have been doing door to door campaigns for the past couple of weeks and they are going very well, people are so supportive of our programs and ready to vote their favourite candidates, change is here,” said Makumire.

Chiredzi has been a political hot spot following the banning of CCC rallies and arrest of its activists who were later released by the High Court.

Zanu PF has had a nonchalant motto of basing their support on the rural electorate where they engage them in small manageable crowds, but this seems to be changing with the coming in of CCC which is embarking on door to door campaign.

In Zaka there have been echoes of the same strategy where CCC leaders and volunteers are going all out in reaching the voters in the comfort of their homes.

Trust Manjengwa is CCC candidate for Zaka South Constituency.

“What we have done is to have teams in each ward which comprises of volunteers from every polling station organise themselves so that they can undertake the voter education programs principally the day to day exercise which have been very successful,” said Manjengwa.

“Some have got big numbers such that they have to create bigger teams and more teams and everything has been progressing well and the feedback has been positive showing there is a willingness to accept change.

“We have been assuring voters of the security of their vote,” he added.

“We are making steady progress and the next phase is very critical for us since it involves that people come out and exercise their choices freely and see what measures do we put in place so that there are no malpractices and how we secure their vote,” summed Manjengwa.

“Door to door campaigns have the marketing advantage of getting up close and personal with the voters where you can hear their grievances and showing empathy as you also find the chance of explaining your ideas and manifesto in detail with open questions from the potential voters compared to rallies and big gatherings,” he said.
