MASVINGO-The Roman Catholic Diocese of Masvingo has announced plans to extend its church in Zimre Park along Masvingo -Bulawayo Road to accommodate more people during big church events.
The development was announced this week by Bishop Raymond Tapiwa Mupandasekwa after delivering his Chrism mass semon at the Zimre Park church recently.
He said the church is overwhelmed by the increasing number of congregants in area especially during big events hence the need to expand the building.
“We have a big task ahead of us during this year and next year. Our church is now being overwhelmed and can no longer accommodate huge numbers. So we have plans to extend this church to address the challenge,” he said.
He called those in the diaspora to extend their helping hands by donating towards the construction of the church.
“We have children in the diaspora, those in South Africa, England and many other places. Let’s ask them to donate towards the construction of our church,” he said.
He said very soon there shall be a committee set to oversee the development.
