MASVINGO – The Masvingo Caravan Park, has embarked on serious tourism drive where two top Zimdancehall sensations are set to perform at a family show dubbed “The Great Outdoors…The Big Dig” running under the theme ‘celebrating the diversity of Food, Music and Dance’ this week on March 18.
The usually quite ancient city is going to host Kelvin Kusikwenyu aka Killer T, Stephen Kudzanai Mamhere aka Enzo Ishall, cultural Afro-pop musician Tedius Marezvavana aka Alchemy and other local supporting artists in conjunction with local disk jockeys including females as a way of celebrating the month of women.
Tavita Mpala told The Midweek Watch that The Great Outdoors ‘The Big Dig’ event is the first of its kind they are so excited to be celebrating the diversity in the entertainment industry.
“The Great Outdoors ‘The Big Dig’ event happens to be the first of its kind and it is our first major event of the year and we are so excited to be celebrating the diversity of entertainment that we are going to offer,” said Mpala.
“The Big Dig will have three different sections (small digs) and each playing specific music genres with dig 1 playing old school and rhumba music which is going to appeal to the mature and older generation and digs 2 and 3 will be playing Amapiano, House, Nija, Zimdancehall, Reggae and Afro beats that is targeted at the young and adventurous”.
“These digs will operate between 12 noon to 8pm and thereafter the small digs will close and everyone will converge to the main stage where the crowds are going to receive live band performances from Killer T, Enzo Ishall, Alchemy and other supporting local artists,” said Mpala.
Entry fee is going to be US$5 per head before 8pm, thereafter it will be US$7.
Mpala also said there are no parking space fears as there is plenty available and it is manned by well-trained security personnel.
Mpala added that besides music the three digs will also have food, drinks, braai and corporates will have an opportunity to advertise their brands at very affordable rates.
“We have also engaged various vendors in Masvingo to cater for over four thousand people we are expecting to attend the festival and the vendors are going to be offering 360 photobooth, cake or confectionary, fast foods, traditional foods, candy floss, popcorn, toffee apple, sweets to just mention a few,” said Mpala.

Last year you witnessed the second edition of Lake October and Great Zimbabwe festival and it was well received and this year we decided to start off with a bang by bringing the big guns in the entertainment industry.
“This a show of its kind, one that should not be missed at all,” said Garande.
The festival is going to be hosted by Tavita Natasha Mpala aka Black Pepper, Mary Tsitsi Masimba aka Miss Candice and Augustine Mhembere aka Dj Elder Kauleza.
