Prominent Mutare businessman and Zanu PF politician Kenneth Muchina has donated 20 bags of cement to Chikanga Baptist Church for the construction of the resident pastor’s house.
Muchina who is also Chikanga Constituency shadow Member Parliament for Zanu Pf, urged congregants to pray for the country and its leaders, despite their different political affiliations.

“We belong to all churches as politicians but today I have decided to pay a visit at Chikanga Baptist Church because I want to be a member here. My sincere appeal is for you to continue remembering your leaders and even our country.
“I noticed as I toured this church that there are some construction works going on and I am giving 20 bags of cement. This is just the beginning because I also want to be an active member of this church and participate in church programs,” said Muchina.
Chikanga Baptist Church recently launched a fundraising campaign to complete an extension of three rooms at the Pastor’s four roomed house, with a target of raising $3 500.
The extension aims to provide shelter for abuse victims and serve as a temporary rehabilitation centre for youths struggling with substance abuse.
Resident pastor Ian Maromo highlighted that currently the church has managed to extend the three rooms up to the slab level.
“The way we advance our ministry in this community is we hold several programs. Our community has many youngsters into drugs and substance abuse thus we invite them for our mega crusades, revivals and other charity programs.
“We are grateful for the gesture displayed by our shadow MP towards our construction project. Indeed he has left an indelible mark in our infrastructural development works. This is a parsonage we are building. If our congregants face challenges they will seek refuge at this same house. We are looking for $3 500 to complete the building because already we have the roofing material in place,” explained Pastor Maromo.
