Turf Primary School in Mwenezi East Constituency is on the cusp of a transformative development with the introduction of a Business Village Unit.

Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, announced the initiative during the belated Independence Day celebrations held at Turf Primary on 18 May in Mwenezi.
Chadzamira who was the guest of honor, highlighted the need to address the water challenge at Turf Primary. “Having taken note of the water challenges at Turf Primary School, the school is going to benefit from uninterrupted water supply from a solarized borehole facility. This aligns with Government’s goal of Rural Industrialisation,” said Chadzamira.
The BVU package which is anchored by a solarized borehole comes with a one hectare facility for horticulture farming under drip irrigation, fish ponds, chick-rearing and piggery projects. This development is posed to create employment to the people of Turf and also generate income for the school and the community.
Member of Parliament for Mwenezi East Constituency and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheillah Chikomo welcomed the development and hailed Chadzamira for the initiative.
“We are grateful to the Minister Chadzamira for the Business Village Unit at Turf Primary School. This is set to be a game changer not only to the school but to Turf community at large,” acknowledged Chikomo.
Turf Primary School Head, Ben Chauke hailed the BVU, stating that, the initiative will help the school to generate income, other than solely relying on levies. “The Business Village Unit is definitely going to change the face of our school, through projects we are going to raise capital for the school as we departure from solely depending on levies. This aligns with the Heritage Based Curriculum and Education 5.0 which challenge schools to be economic hubs” noted Chauke.
Ward 15 Councillor, Enock Magoche also paid tribute to Chadzamira for bringing a first to the people of Mwenezi East. “I am grateful to Hon Chadzamira for honouring Ward 15 with this life changing initiative. The standard of life for our community is set for the better” echoed Councillor Chauke.
