BUHERA-In a bizarre murder incident in Buhera, Tawanda Magoso (32) from Daakoni Village under Chief Chamutsa cut his son, Tavonga Magoso (11)’s neck into pieces and almost separated it from the torso.

Manicaland Province acting police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka.

According to Manicaland Province acting police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka the incident happened on January 10, 2015 at around 1:30pm.

Tawanda was at his shrine while his son was home sheltering from the rains while his grandfather, Enock Magoso (70) was in his room as well.

Tawanda came back from the shrine and headed straight into his bedroom where his son was and withdrew an axe from the roof.

The son sensed danger and bolted out of the room with the father in hot pursuit.

Tawanda caught up with Tavonga 11m from the bedroom and axed him at the back before he went for his neck, striking twice with the sharp axe.

The grandfather tried to intervene but Tawanda advanced towards him and he took to his heels and sought help from the neighbours and his other son Silas Magoso (40).

The accused ran into a nearby mountain with neighbours in hot pursuit who managed to effect a citizen’s arrest.

Silas accompanied his father to Birchenough Bridge Police to make a report.

The police took the body to Birchenough Hospital mortuary while the accused was arrested.

Chinyoka added that the accused was showing signs of mental disorder although there is no documented history of the disease.
