MASVINGO- President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared Brigadier General Jonathan Hungwe Chiduke a National Hero ,Zanu-PF Masvingo Provincial Chair Robson Mavhenyengwa confirmed the development in a telephone interview.
He said the late top Army General will be buried on Friday at the National Shrine in Harare.
“President Mnangagwa has declared Brigadier General Hungwe a National Hero. We applied for this Hero status last week and we received a reply in our favour today. The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Cde Ezra Chadzamira and other delegates visited the family in Mwenezi to pass a condolence and deliver the national hero status message,” he said.
Brigadier General Hungwe collapsed and died last week on Friday at his farm in Mwenezi.
