MIDWEEK REPORTER
ZVISHAVANE-A dark cloud fell on a family from Mabasa village under Chief Masunda in Zvishavane following suffocation to death of a father, his two children, and two grandchildren last night.
The five were allegedly warming themselves in a hut with a mbaura (brazier) when they suffocated to death due to lack of enough ventilation.
Sources told The Midweek Watch that the family members had visited their rural home from Shurugwi where the father is employed at Unki Mine.
“The father works at Unki Mine and had visited the rural areas with one of his sons preparing to go to university in USA very soon.
“The five died after they used a brazier to warm themselves but they suffocated to death during the night,” said a close source.
When contacted for a comment, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said he was making enquiries from the Midlands Province and will share the details as soon as he gets them.
