Former City of Mutare Chief Accounting Officer, Obert Muzawazi (64) has passed on today at Murambi Gardens Clinic where he was receiving treatment.
His daughter, Tendai Muzawazi confirmed the sad news to The Midweek Watch this morning.
Muzawazi served as the local authority boss from 2007 to 2016, prior to that he had also served as Rusape Town Secretary and Chinhoyi Town Clerk.
While in office, he was forced to resign in 2016 due to corruption allegations and had been a regular visitor at Mutare Magistrate Court.
Last year when City of Mutare readvertised the Town Clerk’s post that had fallen vacant after the passing on of Joshua Maligwa in January 2021, Muzawazi also declared his interest to rejoin the local authority in 2024.
