CHIREDZI-In line with the old adage that says dynamite comes in small packages, a brave 17 year old girl fought a suspected robber until he turned a knife on her.
The young girl from Gwachara Village in Chiredzi is currently detained at Masvingo Provincial Hospital where she is receiving treatment for stab wounds on the hand and back.
Masvingo province police deputy spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu confirmed the incident to The Midweek Watch.
Patinyu said the incident happened two weeks ago at around 8pm after the family had their supper when the girl’s grandmother saw a man standing by a tree in the yard.
The grandmother then told the girl about the man, who went on to pick up a log and started chasing after the suspected robber.
She pursued the suspect hitting him with the wooden log until the man stopped and fought back by stabbing the girl at the back and hand and he fled away when she fell down thinking that he had killed her.
The girl was rushed to hospital in Chiredzi and later transferred to Masvingo Provincial Hospital.
