Boy(14) fatally falls from electric pole in Mashoko

MASVINGO – A 14-year-old boy from Mashoko lost his life on October 4 after falling from an electric pole.

According to Masvingo Province Police Spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, the incident occurred at around 1:30 PM when the now-deceased, Joseph Chisasa (14), was walking with his younger brother, aged 12, to visit their aunt who lives in the same area.

On their way, Chisasa reportedly stopped near an electric pole while his younger brother continued walking ahead.

Moments later, the boy decided to climb the pole but unfortunately lost balance and fell to the ground.

His younger brother, realizing that something was wrong, rushed back and found Joseph lying on the ground, crying and calling for help.

The frightened boy quickly ran to alert nearby relatives, together with their mother, they rushed Chisasa to Mashoko Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival.

His body was later taken to Mashoko hospital for post-mortem.

Inspector Dhewa confirmed the incident, urging parents and guardians to educate children about the dangers of playing or climbing high and risky structures such as electric poles.
