CENTENARY – A Centenary family residing at Plot 27, Dunsberry Farm is appealing for US$500 for their 13-year-old son to undergo skin grafting after he was seriously burnt by a veld fire.
The boy sustained serious burns on his left arm, forehead and both legs on the 25th of August this year.
Speaking to the Midweek recently, Tonderai Matope the father of Steven Matope said, they are in need of US$500 for Steven to undergo skin grafting.
It is indeed a difficult time for us as a family. My son Steven was seriously burnt, so he has to get treatment. I am crying out loud to my fellow Zimbabweans to help me. We have made inroads to make sure Steven gets treatment but we have a shortfall of US$500. “Ndibatsireo hama dzangu ndashoterwawo nemari inosvika Mazana mashanu yekuAmerica kuti Steven abatsirwe.”
According to an eyewitness, who is also a relative of the Matope family, the victim’s father and his wife were cutting grass near their field when the boy was burnt.
Every year, lives are lost and large tracts of grass are burnt by veld fires caused randomly by people.
