MIDLANDS – ZIFA Midlands Province Division 2A League log leaders, Black Eagles FC are inching closer to promotion with each outing after securing a 1-0 win over All-Stars Somabula FC at Simbi Stadium on Sunday.

The encounter was the only match over the weekend to allow a proper ending to the league as well as curbing match-fixing.

The Buchwa-based side now has 44 points in 19 games and still has a game to play to catch up with second-placed Chachacha FC.

Chachacha made light work of Jemice Academy FC by defeating them 3-0 to move to 42 points on the log.

The weekend also saw Mbesa FC dropping points at Shurugwi FC after playing to a two-all draw.

Black Eagles Team Manager Wilbert Zveshure reiterated that they will not relinquish the top spot and they seem to be on course for promotion.

Black Eagles are scheduled to play their outstanding match during the middle of this week.

Zveshure said the mid-week game is important and they have to win it.
