MBERENGWA-Second placed Black Eagles played out a goalless draw against fellow Mberengwa based Great Dyke FC in pulsating match that kept the fans on the edge throughout.

The ZIFA Midlands Province Division 2A league match was played at Simbi Stadium on Saturday (September 30,2023).

The first meeting between the two clubs ended in the same manner, however this draw has an impact on the ambitious teams as Mbesa FC were awarded a 3-0 walkover after 13 Stars failed to show up at Vanguard Stadium.

Mbesa now top the table with 31 points while Black Eagles have 29 points with a game in hand as they are vying for promotion come the end of the season.

However, the gap is widening for the Serengeto Boys as they are now on 24 points from 15 games seven points off the table toppers, a bid dent on their quest for Division 1 football next year.

Great Dyke FC secretary general, Rochford Pikanegore said that the team played well considering it was an away fixture.

Black Eagles coach, Oscar Muvhimi said it was a good game of football, kudos to Great Dyke FC.

” We played a good team in Great Dyke FC and they proved they can play D1 football, we dominated the first half, it’s a valuable point,” he said.

Former Shabanie Mine FC gaffer, John Phiri in the dug out for Great Dyke FC said there is need to boost the strike force as they could have easily won the game.

” We dominated the whole of the second half if we had strikers who are good at positioning themselves, we could have won the game, but we will work more in training in preparation for our next assignment,” said Phiri.
