MIDLANDS – The battle for promotion in the ZIFA Midlands Province Division 2A League is heating up after log leaders Black Eagles surrendered to spot after falling to Shurugwi FC by a single goal.
A Kelvin Chigwendere’s strike was enough to stop their winning momentum and it gave fellow title chasers Mbesa FC the advantage after securing a 3-0 walkover over MSU Zvish FC.
The results means that the two teams are tied on 28 points with Black Eagles still having a game in hand as they have played 13 out of the 14 games played so far.
In other results Great Dyke FC salvaged a draw away at Siwawa FC also Mvuma FC beat Jemise FC 2-0.
Speaking to The Midweek Watch, Black Eagles team Manager, Wilbert Zveshure said that they lost after fluffing a lot of chances .
“The game was not all that tough, we failed to capitalise on numerical advantage after a Shurugwi player was given straight red card in the first half. We fluffed a number of chances before we were caught on counter attack and were punished,” said Zveshure.
