MIDLANDS – The trophy has to come home! This was the message from Mandindi as Black Eagles is known by its fans before they headed to Gweru for the Sino Champs of Champs Cup tournament.
They took the message to the heart and went on to deliver the mid-season cup after beating Empress United 4-3 on penalty shootouts.
The match was played at Gweru Show Grounds and ended one all in regulation time.
The team from Buchwa had the coolest nerves and slotted their penalty kicks home to clinch their first trophy of the season as they are eyeing the ZIFA Midlands Division 2A League trophy as well .
The Sino Champs of Champs Cup tournament is an annual tournament sponsored by Sino Zimbabwe Cement Company and began in 2013 which is played by top two teams at the summit of the log from in Division Two from pool A and B.
This year Black Eagles were topping Pool A while Empress United were at the summit of B.
Speaking to Midweek Watch Sgt Wilfred Zveshure said he was excited with the win as the team played well.
” There is huge excitement in the camp for the trophy we are so excited to have clinched the trophy in mid season, it’s a confidence booster heading to the second half of the season,” he said.
They received US$500, winners’ medals and a trophy for their efforsts.
