MVUMA-Gweru Provincial Magistrate Tendai Killian Mahwe has remanded in custody Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) losing candidate for Chirumhanzu South Constituency to Thursday, for bail application hearing.
Patrick Cheza (50) who handed over himself to the police on Sunday in the company of his lawyer Esau Mandipa was yesterday arraigned before the Mvuma Magistrate courts for inciting public violence.
It is the state case that on 24 August around 1:20pm along Charandura-Chaka dust road, an argument ensued after Barbra Rwodzi’s son George Chengetai Rwodzi was involved in an accident with a vehicle belonging to Cheza according to the Police.

It was alleged that Cheza incited Master Chidyiwe, Elias Maduveko, Deliquil Sinyemba, Courage Mugiva, Tonderai Mangau, Tinashe Muzvondiwa, Lovemore Paridzira, Toga Chimhari, Chris Mutovoni, Onsimo Gumbu and other 9 persons who charged towards MP elect Rwodzi with iron bars, logs and knives.
The court heard that Cheza who was visibly angry raised his hand towards Rwodzi whilst shouting at her and instigating CCC members to discipline her for troubling them for a long time.
“Acting in common purpose, Master Chidyiwe who was putting on a red T-shirt violently tripped Barbra Rwodzi with his right foot at the same time trying to stab her on the face with a knife, lost balance and she fell down,” said prosecutor Ndamukanei Chikuni.
She said while Rwodzi was lying on the ground, crying for help the accused persons indiscriminately kicked her several times with booted feet all over the body.
Chukuni told the court that the accused persons only stopped the attack after Rwodzi’s security aide fired shots into the air.
According to the State Rwodzi sustained serious injuries and is currently admitted in hospital for treatment.
While the above is the State outline, The Midweek Watch is reliably informed that the story is fabricated and will publish the full version from both CCC and Zanu PF witnesses tomorrow.
