Bikita minerals unveils $1M clinic

Bikita Minerals has commissioned a state-of-the-art clinic in Ward 30, under Chief Marozva, worth over US$1 million.

The clinic, officially opened by Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira, boasts six wards and a 30-bed capacity.

Minister Chadzamira praised the partnership between government and the private sector as it is yielding positive and tangible results.

“This clinic demonstrates Bikita Minerals’ commitment to social responsibility, improving healthcare services for our communities, the newly constructed clinic has a casualty, observation, dressing, and doctors’ rooms. The facility has male, female, and labor wards. This addition brings the total number of healthcare centers in Bikita District to 29,” said Chadzamira.

Minister of State hailed the clinic’s opening as a significant milestone.

 “This clinic will greatly assist communities in Bikita, Gutu, and Zaka. Government and private sector partnerships will continue improving healthcare services in Masvingo Province,”

“We believe this healthcare center will go a long way in assisting our communities. Bikita Minerals has demonstrated exceptional corporate social responsibility,” Minister Chadzamira added.

“Apart from this clinic, Bikita Minerals has been involved in various health sector initiatives, including providing building materials for clinics, assisting Cyclone Idai victims under the Civil Protection Unit.

“Offering quarterly free medical check-ups for communities and employees with Chinese doctors, conducting free breast cancer screening for women in the mine and surrounding communities in October,” he said.

These collaborative efforts underscore the commitment to enhancing healthcare services in Masvingo Province.

Bikita Minerals managing director, Xuedong Gong, emphasized that this clinic benefits the workers and the community at large, as part of corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“Realizing that there is employment growth at Bikita minerals, the clinic was no longer catering for the population and as the we decided to do the construction and refurbishment of the clinic which will serve as the backbone of the health sector in the community,” said Gong.
