Bikita – Four men accused of stealing copper cables from Bikita Minerals were granted $200 bail each by the Bikita Magistrate Court yesterday.
Tawanda Kanjanga (45), a resident of Village 1 Rusununguko, Tichivangana Davison (45) from Chihonya Village, Beaven Mangezi (38) an agent with Riczon Investments, and Chepiri Tafadzwa (25) a supervisor at Sai 6 stores, Bikita Minerals, were arrested on February 12, 2026, after police detectives from Zaka CID found them with a White Volvo truck registration number AGL 3279 loaded with armoured copper cables at the Sqi 6 plant loading area.
Prosecutor Simbi told the court that the accused persons failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the origin and destination of the copper cables, leading to their arrest. The police officers, led by Misheck Mudhara and Tsaha Evidence, discovered the copper cables during a search of the truck.
Aleck Dube, Chief Security Officer at Bikita Minerals, represented the complainant in the case. The recovered copper cables will be produced in court as evidence, and the total value and weight of the stolen copper is yet to be determined.
The accused persons, who are out of custody, are expected to return to court on Friday, February 27, 2026, for trial. Magistrate Rutendo Jakati presided over the case.
