Bethany Project’s  BRIC- Zim to benefit 5 100 people in Zvishavane

ZVISHAVANE- Bethany Project’s  BRIC-Zim Project is set to benefit 5 100 people in Zvishavane.

This was revealed to Midweek Watch by the organization’s Projects Officer Tatenda Rukanda during an inception meeting that was held at Runde Lodge on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by Zvishavane Development District Coordinator Darlington Chokera, Chief Mafala, Bethany Projects Director Rebecca Gumbo.

The organization is launching the BRIC – Zim project in conjunction with Oxfam and support from the lrish Civil Society Partnership which has brought in an annual budget of US $ 40 000  and the budget is set to be revealed per year for five years.

This year’s program is to run in four wards two from rural and the other from urban. The rural wards are Mapirimira and Dayataya with Nil and Karisen the two urban wards.

The project will see 18 community leaders trained on risk management as well as 30 volunteers to be trained as champions. The model to be used is the Pamumvuri model in which the organization is currently using in other programs.

From now up to December the program will target 2 540 with 850 girls and 800 boys and the remaining number meant for the specialized groups including people living with HIV.

Rukanda highlighted that the program will run for five years with the budget set to be reviewed annually during the period.

“The BRIC -ZIM project is set to run for five years here in Zvishavane with us being the pioneers and we are set to have four wards and a target of 2 540 with 5100 at the end of the program”, she said.
